Wheeling Central's Harler Commits To WVU

Updated: Sunday, August 3 2014, 10:14 PM EDT

Wheeling Central rising junior Chase Harler has already made his college decision.  He's going to play basketball in the Big 12, at West Virginia University.

Harler committed to WVU Sunday, soon after receiving the scholarship offer from head coach Bob Huggins.

Harler also held Division I offers from schools such as Marshall, Winthrop, James Madison and Elon.

The 6 foot 3 Harler saw his recruiting stock rise this summer through some big performances with his AAU team, the West Virginia Wildcats Select.

Earlier this summer, Harler earned MVP honors at the Big Shots All-American Camp.

Prior to hitting the AAU circuit, Harler led the Maroon Knights to the West Virginia Class A state title.  He scored 30 points in the state championship win against Charleston Catholic.

He averaged more than 20 points per game during the season, earning Class A all-state honors.   Harler also surpassed the 1,000 career point mark in the process.
