Briona Arradondo joined the NEWS9 team as a reporter in August 2011.
Before moving to the Ohio Valley, Briona earned her master's degree in broadcast journalism and international affairs at American University in Washington, D.C. A "one-woman" band for campus newscasts, Briona also worked as a Washington correspondent for the graduate online magazine. She explored political reporting during an internship on Capitol Hill, interviewing Congress members, officials and field experts for the NEWS9 Washington, D.C., newsroom.
An Atlanta native, Briona graduated from Berry College with a degree in communication and spanish. She anchored, reported and produced at the former campus TV station and helped create the student multimedia website. During her undergraduate years, Briona traveled to Florence, Italy, where she filmed, photographed, and wrote about the Florentine people and modern issues they face living in a historic city.
The fast-paced, action-driven environment of broadcasting attracted Briona to the industry during an internship with Atlanta's News Leader, WSB-TV, in 2010. More than a year later, Briona is excited to continue telling local stories here in the Ohio Valley.
In addition to traveling, Briona enjoys exploring local performing arts scenes; she was a concert flutist for over 10 years. Briona also speaks conversational Spanish and enjoys Latin dancing. Briona wants to embrace the area's Italian roots by finding the best local restaurants and gelaterias in the Ohio Valley and surrounding areas.
