NEWS9 Anchor / Reporter

Jeff Bowers joined the NEWS9 team in June, 2009.

He first served as the station’s Belmont County reporter before taking over as the weekend anchor and producer of NEWS9 at Six and NEWS9 Tonight.  In November 2009 he moved to the anchor desk full-time as part of the NEWS9 Sunrise team. He is also the anchor and producer of NEWS9 Midday.

Born in Wheeling, Jeff was raised along the Ohio River in Paden City, WV where he graduated from Paden City High School.

Before coming to NEWS9, Jeff was a reporter and anchor at WDTV in Bridgeport, WV.  There he also covered high school and college sports, including the West Virginia University football and men’s basketball teams.

Jeff developed a love and respect for television at a young age.  He remembers watching NEWS9 while growing up and his parents claim their dog, Murray, was named after the news writer from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.”  He decided to pursue a career in journalism after visiting a television station as part of a 7th grade project.  He studied Broadcast Journalism at West Virginia University and graduated from the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism in 2007 following internships at WECT-TV in Wilmington, NC and WBOY-TV in Clarksburg, WV.

Jeff enjoys running, cooking, listening to music, playing the guitar and learning about the history of West Virginia.  He rarely goes golfing and is an avid snowboarder.  He and his girlfriend, Tessa, have two border collies, Burrito and Stella.
