Kelly Camarote joined the NEWS9 team in October 2009.
You can usually find Kelly reporting from NEW9’s Steubenville newsroom Monday through Friday and filling in on the anchor desk.
Kelly comes to the Ohio Valley from WVVA-TV, an NBC affiliate in southern West Virginia. She started as a bureau reporter and worked her way up to weekend news anchor her two years at WVVA.
Raised in Crabtree, Pennsylvania, Kelly attended Point Park University to study theatre. She graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Bachlor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Acting. During her time at Point Park, Kelly completed internships at KDKA-TV and WTAE-TV, both in Pittsburgh. She also took an internship with the National Theatre Workshop For The Handicapped at their facility in Belfast, Maine.
Kelly enjoys reporting on breaking news stories throughout the Ohio Valley. She contributed to team coverage of several recent severe weather situations, including landslides, winter snow storms, and the impact of a Virginia earthquake on the Ohio Valley. During a TARGET9 investigation, Kelly investigated several comments made by a child protective services worker during a child neglect case to find out why the worker had been put on paid leave. Kelly was also the first reporter to get her hands on dash cam video documenting the arrest of Steubenville’s mayor.
Kelly enjoys spending time with family, singing karaoke with friends, acting on stage, and salsa dancing. Her favorite actress is Betty White.
