Ron Ferguson

NEWS9 Reporter

Ron Ferguson grew up watching WTOV9, and he was happy to become part of the NEWS9 team in January 2010.

He can be seen on the sports desk from time to time, as well as covering news throughout the Ohio Valley.

Ron is a graduate of Indian Creek High School, where he was on the football, basketball and track teams.  He then went on to attend and graduate from The Ohio State University with a major in communications.  He wants to be a high school football coach one day, so he spent a year training with the Ohio State football team.  Ron is a die-hard Buckeyes fan and has traveled as far as Los Angeles to watch the Buckeyes play.

Ron did internships at WBNS and the Ohio News Network in Columbus where he was the first on-air correspondent for “The Average Joe Sports Show.”  He then worked in Alliance, Ohio, at Carnation Cable Channel 11 as an anchor, host, and producer.  He also worked at WDJQ/WDPN radio as a fill-in DJ and board operator.  In fall 2009, Ron was the Ohio reporter for Maxpreps.com.

Some of Ron’s most memorable interviews include Rick Nash, Tom Farley and Mark Wood.  Ron loves Ohio Valley high school sports, but he says covering the 2011 Winter Classic between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals was the most rewarding experience of his career so far.

Growing up, Ron took piano lessons for 10 years.  He has three dogs: Oreo, Holly and Boo.  Ron says he owes his success to “a very supportive family, great friends and extraordinary mentors in the broadcasting business.”  When he isn’t working, he is most likely playing a sport, working out or watching movies.
