Hayley Call

WTOV9.com Web Host

A lifelong resident of Steubenville, my interest in news came from watching NEWS9. I can remember being a little girl watching the morning news and eating my breakfast while my mom packed my lunch for school. Here I am today, working in my hometown at the same station I watched my entire life.

Though my passion is for covering news, my interests don't stop there, I have always had a passion for sports too. While in high school at Steubenville Catholic Central, I took up swimming and cheerleading. Swimming has always held a special place in my heart, and I still enjoy watching the sport. I also have an interest for sports that I never played, like football, which should come as no surprise since I'm a hometown girl. I can remember the excitement in the crowds and the “football chatter,” as we call it, the day after.

I was able to continue to cheer on the local sports team, even after high school, because I stayed close, attending Franciscan University of Steubenville. It was there where I was able to travel overseas during my junior year. I studied abroad in Austria for a semester and traveled to more than 10 different European countries.

My career took off during an internship at the Herald-Star in Steubenville when the newspaper hired me as a reporter. There, I wrote a variety of different stories and got a real feel for what goes into this whirlwind news business. As much as I enjoyed being a newspaper writer, I knew my calling was to work on the television side of the business. That's when I took an internship at WTOV9 and really started to feel like this is where I belonged. A few months later, I joined the team on a full-time basis as a news producer and online reporter. As the WTOV9.com’s Web Host, you can count on me to update you throughout our newscasts on what’s hot on our site.

I look forward to working here on my home turf and seeing my fellow Ohio Vallians out and about.
