Kevin Carter
Chief Meteorologist
I have been a meteorologist at WTOV9 since 1991, but I have been interested in weather ever since I grew up in the snow belt of northeastern Ohio. I pursued my love of meteorology at the Ohio State University, where I earned a Master of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences. I started my television career with a few appearances on WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, and then headed to the great north woods for my next position at WAGM-TV in Presque Isle, Maine. At WAGM, I received my American Meteorological Society (AMS) Television Seal of Approval. I returned to my native Ohio in 1991, when I joined the NEWS9 Team as Chief Meteorologist. This brought me back home to my family, friends, and beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland sports teams. I have grown along with the station in my years here, adapting to the changes in technology while staying in touch with the basics of meteorology. I was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation by the AMS in 2007. The Ohio Valley is a great place to be a meteorologist, with varied weather patterns bringing a range of forecasting challenges. WTOV9 is a great place to be a meteorologist as well, with a dedicated staff, supportive management, and loyal viewers. I hope you’ve enjoyed watching me as much as I’ve enjoyed being a part of Severe Weather Team 9.
