Jackie Cain

Anchor - Reporter

I joined the NEWS9 team in April 2006, just before finishing up school at West Virginia University. I started anchoring the weekend editions of NEWS9 before taking on my current role on the anchor desk alongside Eric Minor weeknights at 6 & 11 p.m.

Every day is different and exciting at NEWS9. I’ve traveled 900 feet below the surface into the depths of McElroy Mine in Marshall County, and soared 26,000 ft. up into the air with the Ohio National Guard. One of my favorite places to go for a story, though, is Heinz Field in Pittsburgh to catch up with Ohio Valley fans cheering on the Black & Gold.

I fell in love with the news business while interning back home in Pittsburgh at WTAE and KDKA. During college, I was a reporter and the main anchor of WVU News. I was honored to receive the Most Promising Journalist Award from WVU’s P.I. Reed School of Journalism and a Hearst Award. During my time in school, I realized how much I love to connect with the community and what a privilege it is to tell their stories every day.

Growing up, I spent most of my time training in the dance studio. I got to travel all over the country competing in competitions, and I was able to continue dancing through my college years on scholarship with WVU’s dance company, Orchesis.

My favorite time of year is fall, when I can cheer on the Steelers, the Mountaineers, and the Fighting Irish with my Grandpa. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially my parents who are the most supportive people in the world!

I am lucky to be working with some of the most creative and talented people I’ve met, here at NEWS9. If you see me out and about, be sure to say hello!
