Eric Minor
Anchor/Reporter/Producer
Eric Minor has been a part of the NEWS 9 Team since 1996.
Currently he is the anchor of NEWS 9 Live at Five, NEWS 9 at Six and NEWS 9 Tonight.
He has also hosted WTOV9's public affairs program "One On One," the high school academic "Quiz Bowl" and WTOV9's live coverage of "Jamboree in the Hills."
Raised in Philippi, West Virginia, Eric began his broadcasting career as a disc jockey at WQAB-FM radio at Alderson-Broaddus College. He followed in the footsteps of his parents (both Weirton natives) and attended West Virginia University. He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and a minor in Political Science.
During his time at WVU, Eric took three internships at WTOV9, and learned to work hourly deadlines at WWVU-FM radio.
His first job was as a weekend reporter at WBOY-TV, Clarksburg West Virginia.
A year later, he was anchor of the weekend editions of NEWS 9 at Six and NEWS 9 Tonight and was reporting from NEWS 9's Wheeling Newsroom.
He became anchor of NEWS 9 Live at Five in 1999 and later assumed anchor duties for NEWS 9 at Six and NEWS 9 Tonight.
Eric has anchored live coverage of flooding in the Ohio Valley, the 9-11 attacks and the local steel industry's fight for tariffs on imports. The steel story took Eric to the White House lawn.
Eric loves searching the internet for unusual news stories and loves to study popular culture.
His favorite book: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," by Douglas Adams. Favorite movies: "Star Wars," "A Hard Day's Night," and "Apollo 13."
Eric lives with his wife, daughter and son in Hancock County.
