A new park designed specifically for people with disabilities is scheduled to open in the Adirondacks next year.

The International Paper John Dillon Park is located in the town of Long Lake, N.Y.

Officials dedicated the 300-acre park Monday.

They're shooting to open the park in the spring.

The park will feature nature trails, fishing ramps, canoe and kayak docking facilities, lean-tos, sanitary facilities and a campground -- all accessible to the disabled.

Officials said it the park would be the first of its kind in the Northeast and possibly in the nation.

The park is part of a 16,000-acre easement, valued at $2.6 million, that International Paper gave to the state.

It's named after a former IP chief executive officer.
