Actress Gwyneth Paltrow striking a pose on the Oscar red carpet. Year after year, the famous carpet rolls out on Hollywood Boulevard days ahead of the actual ceremony because of its sheer size - it stretches over 40,000 square feet or 3,700 square meters. Joe Lewis is head of production for the Academy Awards.
