Jakarta Begins Flood Clean Up

Residents in Indonesia's capital on Saturday (January 19) were worried about disease that might strike after heavy monsoon rains swamped parts of the city. Some residents returned home and started to clean up as flood waters receded in parts of Jakarta. Authorities had warned of more rain and disruptions in the city of about 10 million people after Thursday's (January 17) floods turned Jakarta's main thoroughfare into a stream of red mud.
