Some area residents are going without electricity and others are dealing with low water. Power outages caused pumps to go down and some areas are under mandatory conservation orders.

A water conservation order is in effect in Brooke County due to electricity being out at the water plant.

The conservation order affects the areas of Whitebell Circle, Blue Ridge Manor, Hillcrest Drive, Parks Addition and Washington Pike from Wellsburg city limits to Brady’s Ridge.

Emergency Management officials said parts of Marshall County are currently facing a mandatory order.

Water officials are asking that customers in Public Service District 4 avoid doing laundry, washing cars or anything that uses excessive water. Officials said bathing and drinking are OK. EMA officials said the mandatory conservation order should be lifted sometime Monday.

In Ohio County, Emergency Management Director John Tagg said there are no conservation or boil orders but road crews are out cleaning up trees across roadways.

“Marshall County has a PSD issue, where they have a water conservation order due to pump outages from the power. Right now, our water is doing OK. We’re keeping up with everything,” said Tagg.

The EMA and firefighters were out throughout the night cleaning up the mess left behind by the wind gusts.

Dixons Run Road and Brows Run Road in Ohio County are both closed with trees blocking both lanes.

Weather stations at The Highlands in Ohio County and in Bethlehem recorded wind gusts of 65 miles an hour Sunday night.

The EMA is working to ensure that all special needs people in the county have what they need first.
