November Wet But Not White

If you were looking for snow, November was not your month.  We had only a trace of snow on both November 11 and 17, and while the snow on the 11th actually tied the daily snowfall record, we ended up 2 inches below our monthly average.

It was another wet month, with 4.56 inches of precipitation, 1.71 inches above the November average.  Our wettest day was November 22, when a daily record 1.05 inches of rain was recorded.  The year to date total at month’s end stood at 50.26 inches of rain and melted snow, more than 16 inches above average.  We are still about 10 inches shy of our precipitation total for 2004 (60.28 inches), so we’ve been wetter not that long ago.

High temperatures averaged 56.2 degrees in November, 4.1 degrees above average and our mildest readings for the month since 2001.  Low temperatures came in at 36.8 degrees, nearly 3 degrees above average.  No temperature records were set in November.

There was one severe weather day, with a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warnings issued on November 14.  This was also our warmest day of the month with a high of 70 degrees.   The month’s coldest reading came 4 days later when the temperature dropped to 25 degrees.
