Mild weather continued in February

January was an unusual month, with above normal temperatures, precipitation, and snowfall.  February came within a tenth of an inch of snow of duplicating that feat.

Our average high temperature in February was 43.4 degrees, four and a half degrees above average.  Lows for February averaged 5.9 degrees above average, coming up at 27.1 degrees.  The warmest day of the month was Leap Day, with a high of 66, while the coldest was February12 with 12 degrees.  No temperature records were set during February.

It took a record 0.90 inches of rain on February 29 to push the month above average.

We ended up with 2.48 inches of rain and melted snow, only 0.09 inches above average.

10.3 inches of snow fell during February, right on the average for the month.  The most snow on any day was 3.7 inches on February 11.

That warm and wet Leap Day also included a tornado watch, although no severe thunderstorms were reported in the area, and also some flooding of creeks and streams in the area.  The other notable severe weather event was a wind advisory with 61 mile per hour wind gusts reported on February 24.
