Silver Stars Streak Past Mercury

(Sports Network) - Sophia Young scored a game-high 18 points as the Western Conference-leading San Antonio Silver Stars trounced the Phoenix Mercury 77-55, in the first contest for both teams following the Olympic break.

Ann Wauters chipped in 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting with nine boards and Becky Hammon added 13 points with three triples and five assists for the Silver Stars, who had won two of three heading into the break.

Diana Taurasi had a double-double in defeat with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Mercury, who had dropped three of four going into the break.

San Antonio owned a five-point lead after the first period and a dominating 25-6 second stanza gave the Silver Stars a commanding 45-21 halftime advantage.
