Perkins Leads Sky Over Mystics

Washington, DC -- (Sports Network) - Jia Perkins poured in a game-high 28 points on 11-of-21 shooting to lead the Chicago Sky to a 79-75 victory over the Washington Mystics at the Verizon Center.Sylvia Fowles added 20 points and 13 boards for the Sky, who knocked off the Liberty Thursday in a return to action following the Beijing Olympics. Alana Beard had a team-high 18 points and five assists while Monique Currie chipped in 16 points with seven rebounds for the Mystics, who dropped two of three heading into the break. Crystal Langhorne cut the lead to 76-75 with 45 seconds remaining, hitting both her free throws, but Chicago held on for the win. Washington went into a rebuilding mode over the break trading veteran forward Taj McWilliams-Franklin to Detroit for forwards Tasha Humphrey and Eshaya Murphy along with a 2009 second-round pick over the Olympic Break.
